I – What is Dropbox & How to Use Dropbox App

The Dropbox service is a cloud based storage service that allows you to bring your photos, documents, and videos anywhere, anytime and easily share them. Yet, the free space from the Dropbox service is limited. To more efficiently use your free space at your Dropbox account, would you like to back up files from your Dropbox account? The Dropbox APP is just the right answer for this question.

How to use Dropbox APP?

The QNAP Dropbox APP can synchronize your Dropbox account and your Dropbox folder on the NAS in both directions and in real-time. After you install the Dropbox QPKG and log into your Dropbox account, a NAS folder named “Dropbox” will be created automatically and the synchronization process will start. With “RTRR”, a build-in function of the NAS, you can back up files from your Dropbox account. Please follow the steps below to start.

Note: This APP can only be installed on x86 NAS models.

IV – Account Connection Limitations

Each NAS user account with administrator privileges can be synchronized only with one Dropbox account. You may set up the NAS account on the “Users” page (“Control Panel” > “Administrator Privilege” > “Control Panel” > “Users”.) Up to five Dropbox accounts are supported (the accounts with administrator privileges.)

Log into the Turbo NAS using another user ID with administrator privileges; then, the Turbo NAS will synchronize with another Dropbox account.

Does the QNAP Dropbox Sync support LAN Sync as the Dropbox Windows client does? The reason I ask is I have two other systems on my network that already have my Dropbox data and it would sync a lot faster over the LAN than it would over the internet.

Does the dropbox Sync support Lan Sync. I know it is better to copy every thing to the NAS and use that as a central repository but sometimes I am using my macbook and like to quickly sync a few folders through the local network.

  4. burado51 says:

Nope, It req. internet connectin and if you change anything on your local Pc, nothing changes on Qnap Dropbox folder if your offline.

By the way, you can use Qsync as an Local-Dropbox alternate
