I – Cannot Access NAS With \\NasName But Can Access Via \\IPAdress. Why?

Problem;

I am able to connect to the shares using the IP address ie \\192.168.0.4\public etc but not using the NAS name ie \\nas\public.

.

II – How to Enable \\NasName Access Again

Go to Network Services] > [Microsoft networking] > [Advanced Options], and be sure these options are enable & right configured;

qnap nas name access

Other advices;

1 – Try to disable and enable the Local Master Browser, located at [Network Services] > [Microsoft networking] > [Advanced Options]

2 – Try to disable and enable the SAMBA at BONJOUR page, located at [Network Services] > [Network Service Discovery] > [BONJOUR]

3 – try to change the workgroup name of windows to be the same as NAS.

4 – Check if you have right subnet mask; subnet mask for the ethernet interface (in Control Panel, System Settings, Network) was set to a default of 255.255.0.0. When I corrected the subnet mask, the QNAP immediately became visible in the Windows Network.
