RAID Kapasite Genişletme (Online RAID Capacity Expansion)

*RAID kapasite genişletme özelliği Ts-210 ve Ts-212 de desteklenmemektedir.

Uyarı: Eğer işlem sonunda toplam kapasiteniz 16 Tb’ı geçecekse bu işlemi gerçekleştirmeyin, çünkü 16 TB’lık limit mevcut.

 

Senaryo;

Diyelimki ürününüz ile 1 TB’lık HDD’ler satın almıştınız ve RAID 5 yapısı kurmuştunuz, fakat zaman içinde veri kaybı yaşamadan ve Qnap’ı durdurmadan yeni satın aldığınız 2 TB’lık diskler kullanarak kapasitenizi yükseltmek istiyorsunuz. Qnap’ın RAID kapasite genişletme özelliği ile bunu yapabilirsiniz;

Bunun için öncelikle “Disk Management” > “RAID Management”, kısmına gelin ve kapasitesini yüksekltmek isteiğiniz alana tıklayıo “EXPAND CAPACITY”’yi seçin.

Click on 'Expand capacity'

Değiştirmek istediğiniz birinci diskin yanındaki “Change”’e basıpn ve aşağıdaki adımları takip edin;

Change the drive for expansion one by one

Not : HDD’i değiştirdikten sonra bilgi kısmında “You can replace this drive” mesajı çıkabilir. Bu sizin daha geniş bir disk takabileceğiniz anlamına gelmektedir ve zaten yeni bir disk taktıysanız bu adımı esgeçebilirsiniz.

Uyarı: HDD senkronizasyonu sırasında sakın NAS cihazını kapatmayın veya diski yerinden çıkartmayın.

Ekranda “Please remove this drive” uyarısı çıktığında HDD’i NAS cihazından çıkartın ve NAS cihazının iki bip sesi vermesini bekleyin.

Ekranda “Please insert the new drive”, yazısı çıktığında yeni diski yuvaya yerletiştirin.

Diski taktıktan sonra NAS cihazınızın bir bip sesi çıkartması gerekiyor. Bundan sonra Rebulding işlemi başlayacaktır.

Wait for the RAID rebuilding

Rebulding işlemi tamamlandığında aynı adımları diğer diskler içinde tekrarlayın.

Repeat the steps above to replace the remaining disks

HDD’leri değiştirdiğinizde ve Rebuilding işlemi tamamlandığında, “Expand Capacity” tuşuna basarak RAID kapasite genişletme işlemini tamamlayın.

Click 'Expand Capacity' to execute the RAID expansion

 “OK” tuşuna basarak onayladıktan sonra NAS cihazınından bir bip sesi gelecektir ve kapasitesi genişleme işlemi başlayacaktır.

Bu işlemin tamamlanması HDD kapasitesine ve RAID yapınıza göre 10 saat veya dahafazla sürebilir, buyüzden sakın bu işlem sırasında Qnap’ı kapatmayın.

The process might take hours

RAID kapasite genişletme işlemi tamamlandıktan sonra RAID yapısındaki “Status” kısmında “Ready” yazıyor olması gerekiyor. Artık NAS cihazınızı tekrar kullanamya başlayabilirsiniz.

The size of the RAID volume is now expanded

Not : Eğer bilgi kısmında hala “You can replace this hard drive” yazıyorsa ve “Status” kısmında “Ready” yazıyorsa, bu RAID kapasitesini hala genişletebileceğiniz anlamına gelir.

    Unfortunately , QNAP didn’t tell Jeffrey the Volume/RAID being expanded will be unavailable. Therefore leaving Jeffrey with no access to documents he desperately needs for his business. As his business demands growth. All Jeffrey can do now, is wait for the hours to tens of hours to pass by.

    The biggest challenge facing the modern business today is finding technical solutions that really support business instead of having business being interrupted by IT processes that didn’t understand the needs from business.

    And unfortunately , QNAP didn’t tell Jeffrey the Volume/RAID being expanded will be unavailable. Therefore leaving Jeffrey with no access to documents he desperately needs for his business. As his business demands growth. All Jeffrey can do now, is wait for the hours to tens of hours to pass by.

    Perhaps a remark of the fact QNAP services will be disabled throughout the expansion process is worthwhile.

    I have a QNAP TS-231 and replaced both 1TB drives with 5TB drives. I then tried to expand the capacity of but keep getting “RAID Expansion Size Failed”.
